PACKING
The topsoil is improved with chicken manure and gypsum and cover crops grown through the summer.
Then it is raked and mounded prior to covering with plastic.

Later holes are punched in the plastic ready for the planting of the young Strawberry plant.
The young plants are individually hand placed in position in the plastic covered mounds.

As the young Strawberry plants mature they throw out runners.  These runners must be cut back to  ensure maximum fruit production.

Strawberries are harvested using three wheeled trolleys.  Only fully ripe fruit is picked and placed gently in foam cushioned trays.  Damaged or over ripe fruit is removed and placed in a rubbish bucket.
Packing is a highly skilled task.  Something like a high speed 3 Dimensional jigsaw puzzle.  Selecting the best fruit and the right shape and placing it so as the punnet meets minimum weight, the fruit will not move in the punnet, the punnet will go through the wrapping process and the punnet looks attractive.
